Fields in Spring

£185.00

I was keen to paint this view following a spontaneous late afternoon trip to Badbury Clump in Oxfordshire during May.

The weather was typically spring-like, with squally showers followed by bright sunshine and warmth. Badbury Clump is an iron age hill fort with outstanding views across the Oxfordshire countryside.

The circular centre of the fort is made up of beech woodland and planted with bluebells, making for a stunning display. Due to its raised position in the landscape, however, the outward-looking view stole the show on this particular day, with its animated skies and brightly-lit fields of oil-seed rape.

This small piece is painted in watercolour with some details added in coloured pencil. My aim was to capture the excitement created by the transient nature of the light and its effect on the fields and trees.

This painting is sent unmounted for ease of shipping. It would ideally be float mounted to show the lovely deckle edge of the paper and presented in a box-type frame. It could also be mounted and framed conventionally.

I am happy to arrange framing – please email or phone to discuss options and prices. Framed paintings need to be collected in person from the studio in Wiltshire.
