After a much-needed quiet couple of months in the studio, it’s time for my first show of 2026. I’m delighted to be taking part in this collective exhibition with three other Wiltshire painters (and a folk singer-songwriter) in this celebration of nature.
‘The Lost Path explores the ideas of landscape, material, memory and movement through different approaches and voices.‘
The show is at the MADE in the Pewsey Vale gallery, 25 High Street, Pewsey, SN9 5AF, and runs from Friday 20th to Saturday 28th February.
Kate Wade, contemporary British landscape painter
I am a landscape artist working from my studio and gallery space near Avebury, in the heart of Wiltshire. Painting predominantly in watercolour and gouache (body colour), I also use media such as acrylics, acrylic inks and oils to make my work, depending on what I feel will best convey the characteristics of the subject.
Inspiration for my paintings invariably comes from the natural world, in all its infinite variation. The countryside and coast provide endless combinations of colour, pattern, shape and texture – beauty in the biggest sweeping vistas and the smallest seasonal changes.

Do you paint commissions?
I am happy to undertake commissions provided that the brief fits within my normal subject matter and style of painting. Prices are based on the size of the required painting, any travel involved and the amount of preparation work required.

Do you run watercolour classes?
I run classes throughout the year at my studio near Marlborough in Wiltshire, and can provide individual or small group lessons on request.
"I want to catch these fleeting little glimpses of magic in my paintings, so that I can hold on to them. If I can trigger a moment of longing or nostalgia in the viewer, then I feel that it's a successful image. My aim is to remember the coolness of the bluebell wood or the buffeting wind at the top of the hill."
Exhibitions
I exhibit my work at Open Studio events in Marlborough and Swindon and at other venues throughout the year.
