The Open Studio season is in full swing up and down the country. Artists in all disciplines will be beavering away in their studios producing work for their visitors to admire.
For a lot of artists and makers, myself included, an open studio event is likely to be the biggest opportunity during the year to show, talk about and sell their art to the wider public.
As I mentioned in my post in April, I’ll be doing Marlborough Open Studios on my own for the first time this year, having previously taken part in joint shows with fellow artists. The coming month will therefore see a frenzy of activity on my part to create lots of lovely new work, frame it beautifully, and hang it on newly decorated walls – absolutely no pressure. Truthfully though, I can’t think of a more satisfying way to fill my time, so I’m definitely not complaining!
Hot on the heels of MOS, I also have some other events to keep me busy, as shown below. If you need further information about visiting any of these events, please do contact me.
July
Marlborough Open Studios – www.marlboroughopenstudios.co.uk
I’ll be displaying my work at Overton Framing Studio, Manton, during the middle two weekends – 13th/14th and 20th/21st July between 11am and 5pm. I’ll be exhibiting a variety of work, from my large scale watercolour paintings to smaller pieces in watercolour and mixed media, together with limited edition prints and cards. It’s a great venue with good facilities and excellent parking.
August
The Corsham Gallery – www.thecorshamgallery.com
I’m very excited to be showing my work in this lovely gallery for the first time. Their display windows are fantastic, and my work will be in the front window, facing the Corsham High Street between the 14th and 28th August. I will be in attendance at some point. More details to follow nearer the time.
September
Swindon Open Studios – www.swindonopenstudios.org
I’ll be taking part in Swindon Open Studios from my home in Wroughton on the weekend of 28th/29th September, between 11am and 5pm. I’m delighted to be sharing the space with my good friend Mary Thorne, who will be showing her beautiful ceramic pieces and lovely domestic stoneware.
Hope to see you in person this summer. Any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
